Cloaked Review: Remove yesterday's exposure and stop handing out tomorrow's identity

The case has two crime scenes

Normal removal works backward. Find the record, file to kill it, come back when it returns. Cloaked also works forward. It hands you fake-but-working emails, phone numbers and card numbers, so the next signup gives away less of the real you.

That difference is worth money, and easy to score wrong. Masking helps you stay hidden and makes the bundle worth more. It says nothing about whether the removals work.

What the removal workflow actually does

A free scan hunts for your records. Paid plans then file the requests, track them on a dashboard, chase the stubborn brokers and keep watching. Cloaked gives its own timings. A quick removal in 48 hours. A typical one in two to three weeks. A full first sweep in two to three months.

Those are Cloaked's own numbers, not a promise. Brokers decide how fast they answer. Some records will not match you cleanly. Some sites will simply refuse.

The thousand-site claim needs a ruler

Cloaked's list mixes brokers with other companies that hold or leak your data. That can mean real reach. It is not the same thing a rival counts on its people-search list. We give credit for publishing the list and covering a lot. We will not call the bigger number the better one.

Canceling and deleting are not the same move

Cancel and you switch off removal, the masked identities, the insurance and the VPN. Your account is still there, still readable. Deleting for good is a separate two-step job. Decide which one you want. Cancelling does not empty the file.

What Cloaked can document about its own security

Cloaked has passed more outside audits than anyone here. SOC 2 Type II since its first yearly audit in 2024, plus ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and PCI DSS. Two deserve a name check. ISO 27701 covers how a company runs privacy, not just security, which is rare in this field. And PCI DSS is not a box-tick here, because unlike every specialist on this page, Cloaked really does handle your card numbers.

That is why we raised trust from 84 to 89 in August 2026. We did not put it top, and the reason belongs right here. Everything sits behind one login: identities, masked emails and phones, passwords, cards, removal data. One stolen password reaches further at Cloaked than anywhere else here. Four audits make that less likely. They do not shrink the blast radius.

Where we differ from PCMag

PCMag reviewed Cloaked in March 2026 and gave it 4.0. That is close to our score. The framing is not. PCMag files Cloaked as a throwaway-email service, not a removal service. It says its own winner there, IronVest, "offers a similar feature set for less than half the price."

We rank Cloaked fourth of nine as a removal service — a kinder read of the same product. We are asking a different question. Our scorecard puts 55% of the total on documented coverage and process, and Cloaked does well on both. PCMag was pricing a masking bundle against other bundles. Buying for masking? Take PCMag's price point seriously. Buying for removal? Ours is the ranking that fits.

User sentiment

Trustpilot had no usable customer sample when we checked. App-store ratings cover Cloaked's full bundle, not removal alone. PCMag rated the bundle 4.0 and called it pricey. That is not enough for a crowd verdict on removal.
